Scripture Reading: Eph. 1:5, 9; 2 Tim. 3:16; John 6:63; 1 Tim. 1:4; 2 Cor. 13:14; Matt. 28:19
Eph 1:5          Predestinating us unto sonship through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
Eph 1:9          Making known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Himself,
2 Tim 3:16      All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
John 6:63       It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words which I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
1 Tim 1:4        Nor to give heed to myths and unending genealogies, which produce questionings rather than God's economy, which is in faith.
2 Cor 13:14    The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
Matt 28:19      Go therefore and disciple all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

I.     The Lord’s recovery is not an ordinary Christian work; the Lord’s recovery is something from deep in the heart of God and revealed in His Word; our understanding and exposition of the Bible are different from traditional theology because we care for the desire of God’s heart, which He has shown to us from the Word—Eph. 1:5, 9; Phil. 2:13.
Eph 1:5          Predestinating us unto sonship through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
Eph 1:9          Making known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Himself,
Phil 2:13        For it is God who operates in you both the willing and the working for His good pleasure.

II.   We need to know the essence of the Word of God:
A.     “All Scripture is God-breathed”—2 Tim. 3:16a:
1.      The Word of God is the divine breath, the breathing out of God; God’s speaking is God’s breathing.
2.      On God’s side, the Word is God’s breathing; on our side, the Word is for us to receive as our profit in teaching, conviction, correction, and instruction in righteousness—v. 16b.
2 Tim 3:16b    … and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
B.     The Word of God is spiritual milk (1 Pet. 2:2), the bread of life (Matt. 4:4; Deut. 8:3), and spirit and life (John 6:63).
1 Pet 2:2        As newborn babes, long for the guileless milk of the word in order that by it you may grow unto salvation,
Matt 4:4         But He answered and said, It is written, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out through the mouth of God."
Deut 8:3         And He humbled you and let you go hungry and fed you the manna, which you had never known nor your fathers had ever known, so that He might make you know that man lives not by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out from the mouth of Jehovah.
John 6:63       It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words which I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
C.     The Word of God is Christ; it is the embodiment of God Himself—1:1:
John 1:1        In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
1.      We do not consider that the written words in black and white are the living God.
2.      The written words contain God Himself, and this God is Christ.

III.  There are three lines of truth in the divine revelation in the Word of God—the central line, the line of supplemental points, and “the leaves and the branches”:
A.     The central line includes the Word (v. 1; 1 John 1:1), the Triune God (Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14), the economy of God (1 Tim. 1:4; Eph. 1:10; 3:9), the all-inclusive Christ (John 1:1, 14; 1 Cor. 15:45b; 2 Cor. 3:17), the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45b; Acts 16:7; Rom. 8:9-11; 1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 4:4), the Body of Christ (1:22-23; 4:16), and the New Jerusalem (Rev. 21:2):
John 1:1        In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
1 John 1:1      That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we beheld and our hands handled, concerning the Word of life
Matt 28:19      Go therefore and disciple all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
2 Cor 13:14    The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
1 Tim 1:4        Nor to give heed to myths and unending genealogies, which produce questionings rather than God's economy, which is in faith.
Eph 1:10        Unto the economy of the fullness of the times, to head up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in Him;
Eph 3:9          And to enlighten all that they may see what the economy of the mystery is, which throughout the ages has been hidden in God, who created all things,
John 1:14       And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us (and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only Begotten from the Father), full of grace and reality.
1 Cor 15:45b  … the last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.
2 Cor 3:17      And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Acts 16:7       And when they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, yet the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.
Rom 8:9         But you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Yet if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not of Him.
Rom 8:10       But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the spirit is life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11       And if the Spirit of the One who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you.
1 Cor 12:13    For also in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and were all given to drink one Spirit.
Eph 4:4          One Body and one Spirit, even as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 1:22        And He subjected all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23        Which is His Body, the fullness of the One who fills all in all.
Eph 4:16        Out from whom all the Body, being joined together and being knit together through every joint of the rich supply and through the operation in the measure of each one part, causes the growth of the Body unto the building up of itself in love.
Rev 21:2        And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
1.      In all our handling of the Scriptures the central line should stand out.
2.      We should be particularly careful not to confuse the central line and the line of the supplemental points.
3.      We receive all believers according to the standard of the central line, not according to the line of the supplemental points—Rom. 14:1.
Rom 14:1       Now him who is weak in faith receive, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his considerations.
B.     The line of the supplemental points includes the prophecies concerning Christ; the Old Testament types (Gen. 2:7, 20-24; Exo. 25; 1 Chron. 28:11); the church (supplementary to the Body of Christ) (1 Cor. 1:2); and the kingdom, including the judgment seat and the wedding feast (2 Cor. 5:10; Matt. 22:2).
Gen 2:7          Jehovah God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.
Gen 2:20        And the man gave names to all cattle and to the birds of heaven and to every animal of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper as his counterpart.
Gen 2:21        And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh in its place.
Gen 2:22        And Jehovah God built the rib, which He had taken from the man, into a woman and brought her to the man.
Gen 2:23        And the man said, This time this is bone of my bones / And flesh of my flesh; / This one shall be called Woman / Because out of Man this one was taken.
Gen 2:24        Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Exo 25:1        Then Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
Exo 25:2        Tell the children of Israel to take for Me a heave offering. From every man whose heart makes him willing you shall take My heave offering.
Exo 25:3        And this is the heave offering which you shall take from them: gold and silver and bronze,
Exo 25:4        And blue and purple and scarlet strands, and fine linen, and goats' hair,
Exo 25:5        And rams' skins dyed red, and porpoise skins, and acacia wood,
Exo 25:6        Oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense,
Exo 25:7        Onyx stones and stones to be set for the ephod and for the breastplate.
Exo 25:8        And let them make a sanctuary for Me that I may dwell in their midst;
Exo 25:9        According to all that I show you, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, even so shall you make it.
Exo 25:10      And they shall make an ark of acacia wood: two and a half cubits shall be its length; and one and a half cubits, its width; and one and a half cubits, its height.
Exo 25:11      And you shall overlay it with pure gold; inside and outside you shall overlay it; and you shall make a rim of gold upon it all around.
Exo 25:12      And you shall cast four rings of gold for it, and put them on its four feet; and two rings shall be on one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it.
Exo 25:13      And you shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.
Exo 25:14      And you shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the Ark to carry the Ark with them.
Exo 25:15      The poles shall be in the rings of the Ark; they shall not be taken from it.
Exo 25:16      And you shall put into the Ark the Testimony which I shall give you.
Exo 25:17      And you shall make an expiation cover of pure gold: two and a half cubits shall be its length, and one and a half cubits, its width.
Exo 25:18      And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of beaten work you shall make them, at the two ends of the expiation cover.
Exo 25:19      And make one cherub at one end and one cherub at the other end; of one piece with the expiation cover you shall make the cherubim on its two ends.
Exo 25:20      And the cherubim shall spread out their wings above the cover, covering the expiation cover with their wings, with their faces toward one another; the faces of the cherubim shall be toward the expiation cover.
Exo 25:21      And you shall put the expiation cover upon the Ark above it, and into the Ark you shall put the Testimony that I shall give you.
Exo 25:22      And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the expiation cover, from between the two cherubim which are upon the Ark of the Testimony, of everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel.
Exo 25:23      And you shall make a table of acacia wood: two cubits shall be its length, and a cubit its width, and one and a half cubits its height.
Exo 25:24      And you shall overlay it with pure gold and make a rim of gold around it.
Exo 25:25      And you shall make a frame of a handbreadth around it; and you shall make a rim of gold for its frame around it.
Exo 25:26      And you shall make for it four rings of gold and put the rings on the four corners that are on its four feet.
Exo 25:27      The rings shall be close to the frame as holders for the poles to carry the table.
Exo 25:28      And you shall make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold, and the table shall be carried with them.
Exo 25:29      And you shall make its plates and its cups and its pitchers and its bowls with which to pour out drink offerings; of pure gold you shall make them.
Exo 25:30      And you shall set the bread of the Presence upon the table before Me always.
Exo 25:31      And you shall make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand with its base and its shaft shall be made of beaten work; its cups, its calyxes, and its blossom buds shall be of one piece with it.
Exo 25:32      And there shall be six branches going out of its sides; three branches of the lampstand out of one of its sides, and three branches of the lampstand out of its other side;

Exo 25:40      And see that you make them according to their pattern, which was shown to you in the mountain.
1 Chron 28:11  Then David gave Solomon his son the pattern of the portico of the temple and its buildings and its storehouses and its upper rooms and its inner rooms and the building for the expiation cover;
1 Cor 1:2        To the church of God which is in Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, the called saints, with all those who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, who is theirs and ours:
2 Cor 5:10      For we must all be manifested before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done through the body according to what he has practiced, whether good or bad.
Matt 22:2       The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who prepared a wedding feast for his son.
C.     The leaves and the branches are other items in the Bible that are helps to the central line and the line of the supplemental points:
1.      These items are either manifestations of the other lines (leaves) or channels of the organic supply for the working out of the other lines (branches).
2.      The leaves and the branches include but are not limited to the God-ordained way, the Lord’s table, the administration of the local church, head covering, the keeping of days, and the rapture.
3.      We need the leaves and the branches, but we should not be distracted by them.
4.      We must learn how to apply the leaves and the branches to help us progress in the central line in the Word of God, but we should never allow them to become our central line.

IV.  We need to have a proper understanding of five crucial truths in the revelation of the Word of God:
A.     God’s economy is His household administration, arrangement, and plan—1 Tim. 1:4:
1 Tim 1:4        Nor to give heed to myths and unending genealogies, which produce questionings rather than God's economy, which is in faith.
1.      The mystery hidden in God is to gain a church to express His wisdom; this mystery became God’s arrangement, and His arrangement is both His economy and His plan—Eph. 3:9-11.
Eph 3:9          And to enlighten all that they may see what the economy of the mystery is, which throughout the ages has been hidden in God, who created all things,
Eph 3:10        In order that now to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenlies the multifarious wisdom of God might be made known through the church,
Eph 3:11        According to the eternal purpose which He made in Christ Jesus our Lord,
2.      Through the New Jerusalem God will head up all things in Christ so that the glory of God may be expressed eternally; this is God’s economy—1:9-11.
Eph 1:9          Making known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Himself,
Eph 1:10        Unto the economy of the fullness of the times, to head up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in Him;
Eph 1:11        In whom also we were designated as an inheritance, having been predestinated according to the purpose of the One who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
B.     God’s dispensing is produced out of the economy of God, and it is the goal of His economy:
1.      God’s dispensing is to dispense the unsearchable riches of Christ in the operation of the Triune God to us, the believers in Christ—3:8; 2 Cor. 13:14.
Eph 3:8          To me, less than the least of all saints, was this grace given to announce to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ as the gospel
2 Cor 13:14    The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
2.      The result of God’s dispensing is the church becoming the fullness of Christ—Eph. 1:23.
Eph 1:23        Which is His Body, the fullness of the One who fills all in all.
C.     The first time that the Bible clearly speaks of the Divine Trinity is in Matthew 28:19:
Matt 28:19      Go therefore and disciple all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
1.      The Father, the Son, and the Spirit all are God, the only one God—Eph. 4:6; Heb. 1:8; Acts 5:3-4.
Eph 4:6          One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Heb 1:8          But of the Son, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
Acts 5:3         But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to deceive the Holy Spirit and to put aside for yourself some of the proceeds of the land?
Acts 5:4         While it remained, was it not your own? And when it was sold, was it not under your authority? Why is it that you have contrived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.
2.      The Father, the Son, and the Spirit coexist simultaneously from eternity to eternity—Isa. 9:6; Heb. 1:12; 7:3; 9:14.
Isa 9:6           For a child is born to us, / A Son is given to us; / And the government / Is upon His shoulder; / And His name will be called / Wonderful Counselor, / Mighty God, / Eternal Father, / Prince of Peace.
Heb 1:12        And like a mantle You will roll them up; like a garment they will also be changed; but You are the same, and Your years will not fail."
Heb 7:3          Being without father, without mother, without genealogy; having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but likened to the Son of God, abides a priest perpetually.
Heb 9:14        How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
3.      The Father, the Son, and the Spirit coinhere and are inseparable—John 14:10-11, 26; 5:43; 15:26.
John 14:10     Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak from Myself, but the Father who abides in Me does His works.
John 14:11     Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; but if not, believe because of the works themselves.
John 14:26     But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and remind you of all the things which I have said to you.
John 5:43       I have come in the name of My Father, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him.
John 15:26     But when the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of reality, who proceeds from the Father, He will testify concerning Me;
4.      All that the Father has is the Son’s, and all that the Son has is received by the Spirit—16:14-15.
John 16:14     He will glorify Me, for He will receive of Mine and will declare it to you.
John 16:15     All that the Father has is Mine; for this reason I have said that He receives of Mine and will declare it to you.
5.      The Son is called the Father and became the Spirit—Isa. 9:6; 1 Cor. 15:45b; 2 Cor. 3:17.
Isa 9:6           For a child is born to us, / A Son is given to us; / And the government / Is upon His shoulder; / And His name will be called / Wonderful Counselor, / Mighty God, / Eternal Father, / Prince of Peace.
1 Cor 15:45b  … the last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.
2 Cor 3:17      And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
D.     The God-man Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35; Matt. 1:18-20), thus having the divine element, and He was born of a human virgin, thus having the human element (vv. 21, 23); He is the complete God (Rom. 9:5; Col. 2:9) and a perfect man (1 Tim. 2:5).
Luke 1:35       And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore also the holy thing which is born will be called the Son of God.
Matt 1:18       Now the origin of Jesus Christ was in this way: His mother, Mary, after she had been engaged to Joseph, before they came together, was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit.
Matt 1:19       And Joseph her husband, being righteous and not willing to disgrace her openly, intended to send her away secretly.
Matt 1:20       But while he pondered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife, for that which has been begotten in her is of the Holy Spirit.
Matt 1:21       And she will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.
Matt 1:23       "Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel" (which is translated, God with us).
Rom 9:5         Whose are the fathers, and out of whom, as regards what is according to flesh, is the Christ, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.
Col 2:9           For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,
1 Tim 2:5        For there is one God and one Mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
E.      In both the Lord Jesus and the believers in Christ, there is the mingling of the divine element and the human element, without a third element being produced—Matt. 1:18, 20-21, 23; John 1:12-13; 1 Cor. 6:17.
Matt 1:18       Now the origin of Jesus Christ was in this way: His mother, Mary, after she had been engaged to Joseph, before they came together, was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit.
John 1:12       But as many as received Him, to them He gave the authority to become children of God, to those who believe into His name,
John 1:13       Who were begotten not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
1 Cor 6:17      But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.
